| just need a bit of help working out power output for my amp A 500watt head at 4 ohms right? this is running into a cab with a max output of 300 watts at 8 ohms this cab is being over powered right? What happens if i get a 1000 watt cab to run on its own through the 500watt head? 1000 watts at 8 ohms running through a 500watt head at 4 ohms, thats balanced yes? |

| no problem with my old cab , pumped out max output and it SHOULD of blown , but the cones are alluminium so it handled it well, but i daren't destroy it , so i'm upgrading
SO...
if i get another 1kw cab at 8 ohms what'll that do? will that make it both 500 watts at 4 ohms and therefore 1kw amp? =O lol this is confusing |

| i'll explain an amp (sound producer for a instrument , in this case the bass guitar) can be split into 2 or 3 parts , forming whats known as a STACK a stack can be formed of a head a cab another cab im looking for a CAB to go with my HEAD the head has an output of 500watts at 4 ohms watts being the power , ohms being the resistance? might be wrong to get optimum output, you must get a cab with a similar setting im looking to get a 1000 watt cab at 8 ohms, so when combined with ANOTHER cab of 1000 watt at 8 ohms , it will be ballanced, as ohmage cancells itself out? ok i've confused myself , thanks boys! www.google.com |

| Right... thanks for explaining but it's still really complicated, anyway I want a new amp for my Les Paul I have like a shitty 10 Watt one from when I got my first guitar in a beginner package. |

I was looking at some Marshall Amps but they are expensive, and cos I just got my guitar my parents won't let me buy one now, I need something cheaper and is still good for now. |
