PostSubject: Hail to the King, Maybe? (Duke Nukem Forever Review)   Tue 21 Jun - 9:01

The game begins with Duke fighting the Alien King from the last game and after you beat him the game ends and zooms out to revel that Duke himself is playing the Duke Nukem video game from the trailer also you can her ladies pleasuring him. This sets the tone of the game as Duke decides its time to kick ass and chew some bubble gum……. And he’s all out of gum, as the aliens have once again kidnapped earth’s women to breed.

Not a lot has changed for the old Duke game which is a bad thing as while the makers have tried to keep the feel of the old game, when every other game has moved on. For example you can’t precision aim by aiming down the barrel of the gun the screen simply zooms in a little. You also can’t go off and explore a lot, your route through the game is mapped out for you and you basically have to stick to it. For a first person shooter there is actually a good chunk of the game driving which I felt slowed the game down a lot especially when driving your monster truck, it felt like they were padding the game out but not as much as the strip club level which its utterly pointless unless your into computer generated Strippers that do basically the same thing as in GTA4.

The Fun/silly stuff in the game is found through boosting your ego which acts as your health. There are loads of things you can do to boost it like, lifting weights, looking in a mirror and checking yourself out, slapping alien boobies growing on the wall while saying “Got Milk!” or going to the bathroom and using the Glory Hole. Plus all of Dukes classic quotes are there.

Online

I have only gotten into 1 online game so far from 4 separate attempts so hopefully they fix this but from what I’ve seen it won’t have any lasting gameplay and after a while it will be dead on there. It certainly didn’t have me wanting to get another match like MW2, Blops or BFBC2 would have.

Overall it feels like a game that if it had of been out 3-4 years ago it would be amazing but things have moved on a lot. For all the problems I mentioned I still enjoyed the game but would recommend that you wait for it to come down in price or pick up a second hand copy for cheep as there will be plenty out there in a few weeks time once the novelty has warn off.

Comedy 8

Overall 6.5

hope this helped

Nice review mike, heard this was a bit poo,

may buy it when its down to like £8 and im literally outta games!

Maybe they might reboot the entire series and actually use a modern engine to create a game, 4 years and not much to show for it with this one!

Glad i got inFamous 2 now.
