very impressive Dan, i love the contrast of light shining round the dark clouds, and the sky in the last shot looks like its from a movie/tv program when they fast forward the clouds building up before something evil happens

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. You merge 3 photos ranging from a low to high exposure. Then you can adjust tone mapping for a more natural or surreal effect. It intensifies light or luminescence as you have different grades of shading and lighting in each photo
