Today Infinity Ward's community manager Robert Bowling (A.K.A. fourzerotwo) has confirmed that a third-person camera viewpoint will be available in this holiday's monolithic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, though it'll be limited to specifically labeled online playlists.

To quote: "It's not something you can toggle on and off in ANY game," said Bowling. The special mode can only be played in private matches - toggled on or off just like "Hardcore" settings - or in playlists that are designated for third-person play.

According to Bowling, everyone playing in a third-person playlist will be restricted to the viewpoint. "This is just another cool way to play the game," he said, "you obviously will still have the option to play gametypes normal as well."

I've seen a video. It will ruin the atmosphere of the game. You can peak round corners fir fucksake!

Don’t know if this will be a good thing or a bad thing, might be good just for a change now and again just to mix it up a little

But if its optional all the nooby knobs will use it to peek round corners like ridge said, plus if there the loosing type, they'll get that juggernaught deathstreak thing too, thats the gayest thing so far

Don't know why they stuck that deathstreak perk in there - why get rewarded for being shit!

tps view is in particular game modes, for example third person tdm...you wont be able to have both tps and fps option in the same game

if that makers sense,, so when you search for game you will be able to search for tps modes only if thats your bag...would be good for a little bit of stealth now and again, lets not knock it until we have tried it... havent checked the vid yet ill watch later

They put the Death streak in because they were worried that it would take new players a while to get up to speed as there are going to be so many people playing the new one who will be experts at it because they have played the old one so much.

all they get is someone elses perks, not an atom bomb or anything like... you'd have to be pretty shit to die 4 times in a row anyway, im not too worried about it really

It's only in selected modes anyway so you can't have fp bs 3rd person
