| I was talking to a mate, he doesn't know much about the technical side to photography, and was asking what exactly is edited in a photograph, and as I explained it to him, I realised it would be easier to show. With that in mind, I've uploaded a few pics, starting from the original, to the final images.. Its just a small example, but I think its enough to get the idea. So, here goes: Original: The shot was taken in my bedroom, as you can tell the background is very busy and distracting. Edit One: So, first thing, is maybe try and get him to stand out of the background, by cropping out unnecessary and unwanted background, the exposure has been turned up, along with contrast to make colours slightly more vibrant and maybe a little over saturated, but you notice his cheeks are two white? This means they are too exposed. Edit Two: If the background is too busy, simply get rid of it, so in this edit, the background has been removed, and exposure has been turned down a notch same with the saturation. in this shot, clarity has also been turned down a fair bit to give him softer skin. After a few little more tweaks, mainly with exposure and saturation. These are the final two edits that came from that original. Final Images: ------ Hope you guys found this interesting. Sam. |

Yeah, selective colouring is awesome, but it cant be used all the time.. I'm glad you like it mate, just a day in the life of a photographer, when your not shooting, your editing, sleeping, eating or playing MW2

thats a lot. but samit has loads of other equipment though i imagine, of course tripods and maybe other things like different types of lights for close up shots and lenses are expensive. how much have you spent on photography? |
